Mimi Macpherson was the second of four children. Elle who is the supermodel, herself, Brendan and Elizabeth.
Mimi started out in the whale watching business scrubbing toilets as a crew member for Peter Gow's whale watching boat when she was just twenty one but is now known as "the princess of whales".
Following the collapse of Peter Gow's business, Mimi decided to set up her own whale watching enterprise and subsequently received five awards which include three ‘Fraser Coast’ tourism awards and a ‘Queensland’ tourism award in 1996.
In 1997 she won the award of which she is perhaps most proud which is the ‘Executive Woman of the Year Award’ from the ‘Women's Network of Australia’, because she faced serious competition from well known business women from all over country.
She was a presenter for the U.S. based ‘Discovery Channel’ and was later featured on the cover of ‘Cosmopolitan’ magazine as one of the thirty most successful Australian businesswomen under the age of thirty.
